School District 42

School District 42 (“SD 42”) serves approximately 16,000 students from across the Cities of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge as well as the Katzie First Nation in 28 schools: 21 elementary schools, 6 secondary schools, and 1 alternative center.

SD 42 is governed by 7 School Board Trustees - 5 elected from Maple Ridge and 2 from Pitt Meadows. As a body, the School Board hires, manages and evaluates the Superintendent and Secretary Treasurer who are in-turn responsible for the day-to-day administration of education in the district and it’s related finances.

The School Board also provides strategic direction, sets policies and plays a role in advocacy and community engagement. Trustees are elected every 4 years in the municipal election, with the next election scheduled for October 17, 2026.
